Through our classes here at Weathervane Playhouse, we encourage students to think outside of the box and use their imaginations to explore, create, learn, and grow. Our classes allow students to gain an understanding and appreciation for the art of theatre while they develop into artists and build confidence that can be translated from the stage to their everyday lives. We aim to provide each student with a positive experience they can cherish for years to come.

Meet our Directors!

Kathleen Faubel

Director of Education xt 35

An Akron native, Kathleen graduated from the Musical Theatre Program at Baldwin Wallace University and is a proud member of SAG/AFTRA and Actors Equity Association. Kathleen has performed professionally for over a decade in New York City, starred internationally as Belle in Beauty and the Beast in Hong Kong China and has performed at some of the top regional theatres across the country including Goodspeed Opera House, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Stage St. Louis, and Gateway Playhouse. Locally, she has performed at Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Cain Park, Dobama Theatre, Beck Center, and Playhouse Square. Kathleen also has an impressive resume of TV spots including Law and Order SVU and has starred in national commercials including Olay skincare, Red Lobster and Axe Body Spray.

Kathleen has taught dance, acting, private voice, and musical theatre technique classes across the country and at Class Act Performing Arts Studio just outside of NYC. She has directed and choreographed productions of Shrek, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Little Mermaid, Spamalot, The Descendants, and The Pajama Game. Her students have been accepted into musical theatre programs including Baldwin Wallace, Penn State, Elon, Boston, Oklahoma City University, Ball State, Florida State, and Marymount Manhattan.

She's crazy about her studly husband Jarid, their little boy, Ben, and their two puggles (Maple and Bacon). Kathleen is honored to join the Weathervane family!

Elijah Chase

Assistant Education Director xt 29

Elijah joined the Weathervane staff in 2021. He is a native of Houston Texas and a graduate of Kent State University where he got his Bachelor of the Arts in Theatrical Studies with a concentration in Production. He is no stranger to the stage; both on and off, performing in Weathervane's The Color Purple, Sweeny Todd, the 2023 8x10's, most recently Weathervane's production of Ragtime and Kent State's production of Parade. Off stage he has had the oppurtunity to assistant direct Porthouse's BRKLN and Kent State production of The Hunchback of Sevile while also being a scenic artist for many of Kent State's productions!
