Through our classes here at Weathervane Playhouse, we encourage students to think outside of the box and use their imaginations to explore, create, learn, and grow. Our classes allow students to gain an understanding and appreciation for the art of theatre while they develop into artists and build confidence that can be translated from the stage to their everyday lives. It is also our goal to provide each and every student with a positive experience that they can cherish for years to come. 

Our Spring Theatre Academy are a great way to try something new or continue with your theatre education before our Summer Theatre Academy 2025. The Spring session will be 10 weeks long beginning Saturday, March 15th. Workshops are offered for students ages 2-17 and include acting, dance, musical theatre and more! On the last day of the workshops, parents are invited to watch a small informal performance on our stage. 

ADULT CLASSES WILL BE OFFERED THIS SESSION AS WELL AS WEEKDAY CLASSES!

WEEKDAY CLASSES

ADULT

Adult Mixed Level Ballet

Ages 18 and Up

Wednesdays 6:45 - 8:15 p.m.

Come brush up on your ballet technique or try it for the first time! This mixed-level class will allow you to gain the important fundamentals of ballet to help you in all areas of dance in your auditions. This class is in collaboration with BALLET IN THE CITY!

Auditioning for Adults

Ages 18 and up 

Tuesdays 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Do you want to refine your auditioning callback skills for the stage? Want to learn how to audition? Join us for this adult class that will give you the tools to crush your next audition, whether for a play or musical! This class will allow you to work with and get feedback from an experienced instructor! Build confidence, ask questions and get help preparing your materials.

Line Dancing 

Ages 18 and up

Thursdays, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Come and join us at Weathervane as we kick off those worries and heartaches and just enjoy some good 'ole line dancing. in this 10 week adult class we will learn various styles of line dancing and end the session with a good hoedown!

Broadway Tots

For our little shining stars! Students will work on all aspects of musical theatre by learning the basics of singing, dancing, and acting. They will develop performance skills and grow in their confidence onstage and off!

Broadway Kids

Do you love Broadway musicals? Then this class is for you! Students will receive detailed instruction in voice, acting and dance technique while also working on a show-stopping performance from a Broadway musical.

Introduction to Acting: PIRATES AHOY!

Join us as we explore the world of pirates through acting games, storytelling, and creative fun! Students will spend their days using their imaginations to bring their own original stories to life inspired by the bandits of the sea. So, grab your shipmates and pirate hat and join us this spring!

Group Voice

This class is for our students who love to sing! They will work on vocal technique, musicality, and the basics of music theory and eurythmics. A great introduction class to the world of music!

Intermediate Acting

Students will be encouraged to expand on their performance skills to create characters with depth and motivation working as an ensemble and individually through the use of scenes and monologues. They will be challenged to explore their theatre vocabulary to interpret scenes. 

IMPROV 101

Explore the elements of improvisation and experience the power of play with this introductory improv workshop.  Students will focus on various games and exercises that encourage trust, communication, active listening, character development, and teamwork.  You never know what will happen...that's why it's improv!

DANCE CALL BOOTCAMP

Students will build on their dance technique, performance skills, and knowledge of different dance styles outside of a traditional studio setting. TECH LAB: PROPS AND SCENIC

Want to learn what happens backstage? Well now's your chance! Join us this spring in our Tech Lab as we focus on the ins and outs of what it takes to design scenery and props. Students will work with one of Weathervane's designers to learn the basics of scenic and props design from creating a ground plan to learning about fake prop foods!

PRODUCTION CLASS: SCENES AND SELECTIONS FROM FROZEN

Ages 7 - 17

This class will give students the experience of putting on a show in a supportive environment! From auditioning tips and the casting process to rehearsals, to performing on our stage on the last day of class, students will gain a full understanding of what being in a show is all about! Let’s create Frozen together and feel the magic of bringing beloved characters like Elsa, Olaf and Hans to life! All ages are welcome as we have an array of wonderful characters to cast!
